Traffic Violations

Well-known New York City actor and comedian, Tracy Morgan, was critically injured in a six-vehicle accident recently, while traveling in a chauffeured limousine bus back to New York from a show out of state.

Morgan is best known for his roles on the television programs “Saturday Night Life” and “30 Rock.”

The driver of a tractor-trailer reportedly hit the rear of the limo bus, allegedly causing the accident that ultimately also involved four other vehicles. The accident is believed to have happened because the truck driver failed to slow for traffic ahead and then swerved too late to avoid a crash.

One occupant of the limousine, another comedian, was killed in the crash. Two other passengers in the bus were seriously injured.

Now, the 35-year-old truck driver is facing criminal charges of one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto, and his bail has been set at $50,000. In a situation such as this, where the accident victims are high-profile, a death has occurred, and it has been reported that the truck struck the other vehicle from the rear, it is important for the accused to seek legal counsel.

Finding oneself in the situation of being charged with serious crimes due to a traffic accident would be a terrifying situation for anyone. In every such case, a person charged with a crime has certain guaranteed rights to due process, and a criminal defense attorney may be able to help ensure that those rights are protected.
