Traffic Violations

Perhaps one of the defining characteristics of the American way of life is our love affair with the automobile. It is possible to participate in the daily activities of life in this country without having the privilege of driving, but to do so, especially involuntarily after a license revocation, is to experience what is arguably life as a second-class citizen.

If you have had your license revoked in the state of New York, it is understandable that you will want to get it reinstated as soon as possible. The law of this state, however, does not make it easy to do this.

To begin with, a license revocation is just that: you lose your license. In this sense, the term "license reinstatement" is slightly misleading, because you have no license to reinstate. You will need to apply for a new license. What is more, there are no shortcuts when it comes to getting a new license after you have lost your license. It is possible that you will need to take the written examination and even the driving test all over again.

And that only comes after you have proven that you have satisfied all of the other conditions that have been imposed on you by the license revocation, such as waiting out the full length of your revocation time period and clearing up any matters that you may be subject to related to a suspended license.

A traffic ticket attorney can help you with the process of getting a new license after your old one has been revoked. But a possibly more beneficial use of an attorney's expertise is preventative instead of restorative: helping you to fight against the revocation in the first place.

At the Law Offices of Zev Goldstein, our attorneys have extensive experience in helping our clients to challenge the legal cases brought against them for traffic violations. If we cannot get the charges dismissed, we may be able to find ways to have them reduced.

This can make all the difference between keeping your license and having to get a new one.
