Traffic Violations

A retired police officer is currently facing charges for homicide and driving while under the influence in lieu of a deadly crash that occurred in New York. The 57 year old man was arrested immediately following the accident due to his condition.

Law enforcement officials report that the retired officer was driving drunk when he crashed into another vehicle that failed to follow the rules of the road and yield while exiting a parking lot. The impact was so forceful that it caused the vehicle that was driven by the other driver to overturn. This same vehicle then struck a third car that was traveling in the opposite direction.

One man, who was a passenger in the vehicle that was struck by the police officer’s vehicle, was killed in the crash. This man was 54 years old. The other passengers and driver of that vehicle were hurt, but their injuries were non-life threatening. No person who was in the third car was injured, and neither was the retired police officer or his passenger.

As active police officers arrived at the crash site to assess the scene, it was determined that the retired police officer had been drunk as he was operating his vehicle. Though the driver of the second vehicle did fail to yield, it was not immediately clear if they would face charges as well.

Drunk driving accidents often result in serious injuries or death. If you have been involved in a drunk driving accident, speaking to an experienced attorney might be beneficial.
